In my Sunday School Class, each week I would get a paper called Power for Living which had three stories. When a story was about taking care of my parents, I could hardly wait to read it. This was before I knew I would be the one to take care of my parents. Now I can see how God was preparing me for that part of my life. I took care of my parents for about five years before they went to heaven to be in their eternal home.

Knowing Bible verses about what God can do for us was a great help to me. He gave me strength at the very moment when I needed it. One such verse, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, told me: "...give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

As my parents became less independent, God gave me wisdom for dealing with each new situation. God is my Great Physician. I was not sick even one day during the five years I took care of my parents. I praise God for all the help he gave me.

In Philippians 4:6-7, (Good News Bible) we are told: "Do not worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking with a thankful heart. And His peace which is far beyond human understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus."

Become a child of God and He will give you His peace and help for whatever you are facing in your life!
